Never spell out your WiFi password again
A WiFi QR code stores your network name and password in a format every modern phone understands. Guests point their camera at it and tap "Join" — no hunting for the router sticker, no reading passwords across the room, no "is that a zero or an O?"
Where people use them
- Homes: a small framed code by the door or on the fridge handles every guest forever.
- Cafés and restaurants: table tents with a WiFi code reduce the single most-asked question your staff gets.
- Airbnbs and rentals: put the code in your welcome binder and check-in instructions — fewer messages from guests on arrival day.
- Offices: a guest-network code at reception gets visitors online without IT involvement.
Tips
- Add a caption like "Scan to join our WiFi" — a labeled code gets used, a bare one gets ignored.
- Print at least 1.5 inches wide for tabletop scanning; use the 2048px or SVG download for wall signs.
- For businesses, put your guest network in the code, not your main one.
- Test the printed code with one iPhone and one Android before making copies.
WiFi QR code FAQ
How does a WiFi QR code work?
The code stores your network name, password, and security type in a standard format (the same one Android's "share network" feature uses). When scanned, the phone offers to join the network automatically.
Is it safe to put my password in a QR code?
The password is readable by anyone who can scan the code, so display it only where you'd happily hand out the password anyway. On the privacy side: this tool runs entirely in your browser, so your password never leaves your device or touches our servers.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes — iOS 11+ and Android 10+ support it natively through the camera app; older Androids can use any free QR scanner app.
What if I change my WiFi password?
The old code keeps the old password, so generate and print a fresh one. It takes ten seconds and there's no limit.
